Our Hubs

What is a Hub?

Hubs are informal, local groups set up by Refugees at Home that provide a way for hosts and Home Visitors to come together, share knowledge and experiences, and support one another.

There’s no one way that a Hub operates. Most keep in touch through WhatsApp groups or online meetings, but members sometimes organise in-person meet ups and social events.

A member of our team is present in each Hub group chat to help provide feedback or answer questions.

Although the Hubs are intended to be safe spaces to discuss experiences, the privacy and dignity of our guests is paramount. Individual personal details of guests or specific situations should not be shared and any issues related to a placement should be raised with your Placement Coordinator.

People who volunteer with Refugees at Home often have a lot of common interests. Sometimes we’ll let each other know about upcoming events, or other ways to try and help refugees.

It offers people contacts that they wouldn’t have otherwise and puts you in touch with someone who knows the system and can help.

Where are our Hubs

The map below shows our current Hubs across the UK. Please note that the markers indicate the areas that our Hubs operate in, and not the location of an office.

Can I join or set up a Hub in my local area?

All new hosts living in one of our Hub areas will be asked if they’d like to join. If so, we’ll put you in touch with the group.

If you’d like to join your local hub, email info@refugeesathome.org.

If no hub exists in your area and you are a current host or home visitor with us, please get in contact with our Volunteer and Engagement team to discuss setting one up.
